THE IDEA AND HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL PUBLIC FINANCE

Summary

Local goverment finance has a long tradition in the Republic of Serbia. In Serbia, a municipality has special significance since gaining independence and foundation of state institutions. Its importance, as a part of state organization, has rendered to jurisdictions that have been transferred from the state during the time and that necessary  involves transferring of funds for exercising of those jurisdictions in a proper way. This paper is dedicated to determination of local goverment finance concept and its historical development, paticullary in the Republic of Serbia.
