POLITICAL (DELIBERATIVE) ORATORY
Summary
The preparation, content and manner of delivering the speech are adapted to specific circumstances, needs, goals, and the audience, depending on whether it is political (deliberative) oratory, court oration, special (epideictic) oration (ceremonial oration, military speech, or posthumous oration) or is a speech to the media. Political oratory aims to influence the opinion and attitudes of the audience, win over the audience to its side, which is achieved by voting or joining political organizations, presents political ideas, decisions and intentions in order to inform citizens, creates reputation and a positive image of political leaders and parties, but also criticizing opponents, disputing other people's results and opposing the existing policy. All this is taken into account when preparing, writing and delivering speeches of this type, which distinguishes political oratory from other types of oratory. The paper will explain and specify the specifics and types of political oratory, the qualities that a political orator should possess, the content of political speeches, adapting the speech to the audience and achieving influence, taking into account the psychology of the crowd.
